Easyfundraising scheme launched.  This is seen to have considerable potential as a means of boosting club income.

Bonfire Night held at Rhydiau, Drefach.  More than 100 attended this popular annual event.  George & Molly Greenfield won the best Guy competition prize, whilst Ann Lonsdale won first prize in the raffle (a £25 fuel voucher kindly donated by Robert Jones at Central Garage, Pentrebach).  The event raised £579.

News received of Llanwenog Community Council's decision to fund the purchase of safety barriers for the playground.  This is great news for the club and helps to stabilise the club's financial position. 

27th Sept 2009

Village cricket match (Drefach, Llanwenog vs Llanwnnen) held at Maes Yr Onnen, Drefach.  This was a tense and exciting 20:20 game.  Llanwnnen opened the batting and scored 93 runs; Drefach, Llanwenog made 91 runs in reply.  The event raised £236.

4th July 2009

The annual Fun & Sports Day was held at Maes Yr Onnen, Drefach.  There was a wide range of sports events, a 6-a-side soccer tournament and the ever popular "Stay Dry Challenge".

One person who certainly didn't stay dry was Committee member, Alan Hands, who was ceremonially drenched.  This was at the request of local businessman, Pat O'Keefe, who, in return, kindly donated £50 to the club.  Many thanks to both Pat & Alan.

Other attractions included a bouncy castle, face painting, and a bottle and cake stall, and the BBQ and refreshment stall were kept busy throughout the afternoon.  Overall the event raised £800.

11th June 2009

The club's AGM was held in the Village Hall, Drefach.  The main issue discussed was the club's difficult financial position (background information), with the need to purchase safety barriers by the roadside at the playground and to fund the annual insurance bill in November.  It was noted that the playground itself could be used as the venue for fundraising events once the safety barriers were in place.  It was concluded that additional fundraising income was urgently needed and it was resolved to arrange more fundraising events whilst also seeking new ways of raising funds.
