It was third time lucky for Clwb Cledlyn on the evening of Friday 7th November.  Two previous outdoor fundraising events had succumbed to this year's atrocious weather, but on this occasion the Bonfire Night & BBQ went ahead as planned, and it proved to be an excellent get together for the community in Drefach, Llanwenog.

All present were treated to a sustained and breathtaking firework display, thanks to the generosity and hard work of Cliff & Ryan Thomas, who purchased most of the fireworks and arranged the display from a neighbouring field together with a small band of helpers.  Caron & Alan Hands worked flat out all evening at the BBQ with Jessica & Daniel Bird to meet the immense demand for burgers, whilst May & Stanley Griffiths were busy dispensing the refreshments.  The Best Guy competition was won by the Cox family with Jac & Tomas Evans as runners up, and Lucy Jones won the raffle prize of a £25 fuel voucher, kindly donated by Robert Jones at Central Garage, Pentre-bach.

The event was very well attended and the Club's Treasurer, Rosemary McKee, has confirmed that it raised £375 for the village playground.  Hefin Davies, Club Chairman, thanked everyone for their support and announced the news that a playhouse with slide had been purchased with a £3,100 grant from the Ceredigion County Council Community Fund matched by an equivalent sum from Club funds.  He advised that this was scheduled to be installed before Christmas.

The wet and cold conditions certainly didn't dampen people's spirits and a good time was had by all.
